Responsible Solutions for Benton County’s Future

Benton Clean & Strong is a coalition of local residents, workers, businesses, and community leaders focused on encouraging thoughtful, fact-based dialogue about important infrastructure and environmental decisions facing our region.

We support transparent public processes, responsible environmental stewardship, and practical long-term planning that reflects both community needs and regional realities.

Coffin Butte Project Update

On March 3, the Benton County Board of Commissioners voted to overturn their previous approval of the Coffin Butte Landfill expansion. While we are disappointed in both the decision and the way it occurred, the appeal process is underway, and we will keep you informed.

We believe that the key reasons to expand the landfill – renewable energy, keeping costs low for family, and community investment – still stand.

These discussions must move forward in a clear and transparent manner, with robust community involvement. This moment has reinforced a broader principle that extends beyond any single project: public confidence in major decisions depends on open processes, meaningful opportunities for input, and clear communication about how decisions are made.

Stay Informed

We encourage community members and stakeholders to stay engaged as discussions about regional waste management and environmental protection continue.
